Challenge
- Partner Laing O’Rourke on design, manufacture, and installation of framing system.
- Provide new adolescent facility, with an overall floor area of 3,157m2 largely in ground floor space.
- Have project ready to use before July when lease runs out on former premises.
- Avoid noisy and dusty operations on a live, working hospital site.
- Provide sustainable build.
- Provide simplified construction.
- Provide building with superior acoustics and adaptability for client and end-users – the patients.
- Work well within the 'Designed for Life: Building for Wales' Framework.
- Provide value for money.
Solution
The entire framework was erected quickly and on time, it was an “excellent performance”, with the on-site teams working well together, helped by the “can do approach” demonstrated by Deeside.
